В статье описаны материалы, посвященные освобождению 28 июля 1944 г. Бреста от немецко- фашистских захватчиков, размещенные на страницах советских газет 29–30 июля 1944 г. Приведены сведения, о том, что за три года оккупации гитлеровцы создали в районе Бреста мощный глубоко эшелонированный укреплённый район: 15–20 километров на подступах к Бресту представляли собой сплошную укрепленную линию, а сам город был сильнейшей военной крепостью. Однако, несмотря на значительные фашистские силы при наличии большого количества оружия и боевой техники и строжайший приказ немецкого командования удерживать Брест любой ценой, советские войска освободили город меньше чем за двое суток. Анализируется содержание публикаций об освобождении Бреста в центральных советских газетах «Правда» (органе ЦК КПСС), «Известия» (органе Верховного Совета СССР), «Красная звезда» (органе Народного комиссариата обороны Союза ССР), республиканской газете «Советская Белоруссия» и Брестской областной газете «Заря» за 29– 30 июля 1944 г.
The article describes materials devoted to the liberation of Brest from Nazi invaders on 28 July 1944, published in Soviet newspapers on 29–30 July 1944. It provides information that during three years of occupation the German forces created a powerful, deeply echeloned fortified area in the Brest region—15–20 kilometers of approaches to Brest were transformed into a continuous fortified line, while the city itself was a strong military fortress. Nevertheless, despite the considerable enemy forces, the large quantity of weapons and military equipment, and the strict order of the German command to hold Brest “at any cost,” Soviet troops liberated the city in less than two days. The article analyzes the content of publications on the liberation of Brest in the central Soviet newspapers “Pravda” (organ of the Central Committee of the CPSU), “Izvestia” (organ of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR), “Krasnaya Zvezda” (organ of the People’s Commissariat for Defense of the USSR), as well as in the republican newspaper “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” and the Brest regional newspaper “Zarya” dated 29–30 July 1944.
