https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18033830

Abstract

This article presents an analysis of postcard descriptions in the electronic catalogues of the following libraries: the National Library of Belarus, the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus, the National Library of Russia, the Russian State Art Library, the Russian State Library. The analysis of the electronic catalogues showed that postcard descriptions most frequently include the following information: title, author, year of publication, place of publication, publisher, dimensions, technique, language, and others. Notes help identify postcards and may contain the following information: image location, image colour, acquired features, information about the origin in the library collection, a verbal description of the image, and others. Abstracts and keywords are less frequently used elements in postcard descriptions.
