Author Guidelines

I. The journal publishes materials in the Belarusian, Russian and English languages. The materials must correspond to the topics of the journal and have theoretical or practical significance. The concept of the journal is focused on publishing original scientific articles that reflect results of research, scientific and practical, organizational and methodological, information and analytical, educational and pedagogical activities dealing with information and library industry, science segment, information technology, book and publishing industry; analytical reviews of literature and regulatory documents; reviews of scientific and professional publications.

II. The journal accepts materials that have not been published anywhere, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere.

III. All manuscripts must be submitted to the editorial office online by e-mail lid-office@belal.by or through the website https://lid.belal.by. The submitted manuscripts must be in the Microsoft Word format (with the extension doc, docx, rtf), photographs and figures of authors should be in jpg-, png- or bmp-format (as a separate file), not less than 300 dpi resolution;

IV. The term “Author” states for all persons (co-authors) who took part in the research and creation of the manuscript and are responsible for its content. The person (author) who submitted the manuscript is responsible for the completeness of the presentation of the composition of the author’s team and their approval of all changes made after peer review and editing.

V. By sending materials for publication, the authors confirm that they have read the license agreement and give their consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with the terms of the license agreement, as well as to receive informational e-mail newsletters from the editors, and have the right in any moment to unsubscribe from their receipt by sending an email to the address: lid-office@belal.by.

VI. When submitting a manuscript, the authors must sign the license agreement, which enters into force from the moment the Editorial Board of the journal makes a decision to accept the article for publication.

VII. The submitted materials should include the following structural elements:

- title page (metadata) in Belarusian/Russian and English:

  • UDC index;
  • title of the article;
  • information about the authors: surname, name, patronymic (in full); academic degree, academic title, ORCID ID, Researcher ID, and others (if any); affiliation (full official name of the organization), full postal address (street, house, city, zip code, country); structural unit, position, e-mail address. The journal expects that authors would authorize one of them to correspond with the journal for all matters related to the publication. Photographs of authors should be in jpg-, png- or bmp-format (as a separate file), not less than 300 dpi resolution;
  • an abstract: a short summary of the article between 150 and 250 words, revealing the background, aim, main content aspects, main research results, practical significance;
  • keywords: 6–10 keywords on the topic of the article;
  • funding and acknowledgements (optional): a list and description of any sources of funding that have supported the work, as well as people who participated in the work on the article, but are not its authors;

- the main text of the article: the volume of the original scientific article should be 14 000–28 000 characters, the analytical review should not exceed 9 000 characters, reviews should not exceed 6 000 characters. The main text of a scientific article should be divided into sections with the following headings: introduction, the main part (preferably divided into subsections with headings), conclusion. Infographics (tables, diagrams, figures, etc.) should be numbered and have a table caption (title) in Belarusian/Russian and English. Please mention tables and figures in the main text. In the case of using works or statements of other authors, citations and other borrowed materials in the text of the article, bibliographic references to all these sources are required;

- the list of references should be arranged in accordance with Harvard Referencing Style. References should be arranged in the order, they are mentioned in the main text of the article and they should be indicated in the text by numbers in square brackets [reference number in the list of references, page]. The recommended number of references should be not less than 10. The cited literature should reflect the current state of the research issue, include publications in both domestic and foreign editions. Internet sources (if it is an electronic document) should be included in the list of references. It is undesirable to include the following sources in the list of references: author's abstracts, dissertations, textbooks, study guides, GOSTs, information from websites, legislative acts, reports, articles in socio-political newspapers, etc. It is recommended to cite these sources in parentheses in the main text or to provide footnote references.

VIII. The authors should follow the following article formatting requirements:

  • the text must be in Microsoft Word format (*.doc extension) with A4 page size, portrait page orientation, without page numbering and without hyphenation. All margins must be 2.0 cm, paragraph indentation – 1.0 cm, font – Times New Roman.
  • UDC index is placed at the top of the article in the first line with the left alignment and without paragraph indentation; the font size must be 12 pt.
  • title metadata are given in two blocks: first in Belarusian/Russian, then in English;
  • the title of the article is typed using the bold font style, font size 12 pt, single line spacing, centered alignment;
  • information about the authors is typed using the font size 12 pt, single line spacing, centered alignment;
  • abstract, keywords, funding and acknowledgments are typed using the font size 10 pt, single line spacing, justified alignment;
  • the main text of the article is typed using the font size 12 pt, without compaction, unnecessary spaces or rarefaction, with one and a half line spacing. Highlights in the text should be made using the italic or bold font style, but not underlining (except Internet links);
  • illustrations are included in the text of the article and are submitted as separate files in jpg, png or bmp formats with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. The font size of the text in figures is 8–12 pt. The figure caption contains the figure ordinal number and title; typed using the bold font style, 10 pt size, single line spacing, without a dot at the end; the alignment must be centered;
  • tables should have headings, including the ordinal number of the table and its name; they are typed using the bold font style, 10 pt size, single line spacing, without a dot at the end; the alignment must be left. The content of the table is typed using the font size 10 pt;
  • References typed using the font size 10 pt, single line spacing; the alignment must be justified.

IX. On submission, editors review all submitted manuscripts initially for compliance with the topics of the journal, general content requirements and requirements for manuscript formatting. At this stage, editors may return the article to the authors for revision with a request to eliminate errors and comments on the content and format of the manuscript or add missing data. The date of the final receipt of the article by the editors is the date of receiving the manuscript that meets all the formal requirements of the journal.

X. The authors of the articles are responsible for the content of the submitted articles and materials. The Editorial Board does not always share the opinions of the authors and is not responsible for the unreliability of the published data.

XI. The preparation of an article for publication, carried out by the editorial staff of the journal, consists of proofreading, which is performed without obtaining additional consent from the authors, and may also include changes, reductions and/or additions to the article as a result of editorial revisions, which are carried out with the consent of the authors.

XII. Authors, whose articles are accepted for publication, may publish their manuscripts (in final revision) on their personal/work sites, as well as digital repositories from the moment of receiving a positive decision on publication from the Editorial Board of the journal.

XIII. Authors do not pay for the publication of articles. The journal doesn’t have any article processing and submission charges. Authors are not paid royalties for published articles.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

 

Privacy Statement

Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
